You’ve done it! You’ve created an online shop full of beautiful products just waiting to be snapped up by eager customers. But there’s just one problem: your product pages aren’t converting. In other words, people are visiting your pages but they’re not buying anything. If this sounds familiar, don’t worry—there are a few simple tweaks you can make to increase your sales converting product pages.
1. Use High-Quality Images.
One of the most important things you can do to make sales on your product pages is to use high-quality images. People want to see what they’re buying, so make sure your pictures are clear, well-lit, and show the product from multiple angles. If you have the budget for it, hire a professional photographer—it will be worth it in the long run. The images that you use for the main image, make sure the product is the focal point. Adding in too many props, or other textures takes the visitor’s eye away from the main item; your product. Additional to the main product image, include lifestyle photos that puts your products into your customer’s hands and helps them picture their life with your product.
2. Use Persuasive Copy.
The copy on your product pages is nearly as important as the images—after all, it’s what’s going to convince people to buy what you’re selling! Make sure your copy is clear, concise, and persuasive. Be sure to highlight the benefits of your products rather than just listing the features (e.g., “Our soft blankets are perfect for snuggling on chilly nights” rather than “Our blankets are made of 100% cotton”). This is another area too where you can use your copy to paint a picture or a story for your customer to put that product into their hands, or home.
3. Offer Discounts and Incentives.
Nothing encourages a sale quite like a good deal! If you’re not already offering discounts or coupons on your product pages, now is the time to start. You can also offer free shipping for orders over a certain amount, or include a special gift with the purchase to sweeten the deal. However, don’t offer too many discounts, or too high of a discount that may devalue your products.
4. Make it Easy to Buy.
Last but not least, you need to make sure it’s easy for people to actually buy the products they’re interested in. Include large, prominent “Buy Now” or “Add to Cart” buttons on each page, and ensure that the checkout process is short and sweet—the fewer steps there are, the better. Nobody wants to jump through hoops just to make a purchase!
5. Abandoned Cart Capture
Things happen…life happens and sometimes a customer may be this close to checking out but something comes up and they leave your site. Be sure to optimize your abandoned cart email strategy to capture those potential lost customers, and lost revenue having an abandoned cart capture optimized.
